The Paradox in Staying Ahead of Trends.

Today's media frequently renders an original look quotidien, banal, or (with lightning-quick speed) - trendy.

Perusing Street Style photographs yesterday, I saw a lot of true style - worn with panache and flair.  To be an originator though, is much like tipping the first domino.

I retreated from my plan to write about what - to me - looked avant garde or ahead of the game, because to do so would only quicken the domino effect.

To present something in a new manner - whether it be art, fashion, music, or anything born of creative thought - is a form of self expression.  Now it seems, in no time at all, everyone is saying the same thing.

For retailers - perhaps the domino effect is beneficial, but for the artist - it may not be welcome.

Maybe one antidote in preventing this particular creative paradox is to create a very strong signature or a very strong voice.  What are your thoughts regarding this creative paradox or domino effect?
